Dedicated to the performance of the finest wind repertoire, these ensembles embrace a wide spectrum of styles across their many concerts.  The Symphonic Wind Ensemble and the University Concert Band explore both traditional and contemporary works for band.

In fostering a wide array of talented young musicians, the Department of Music offers concerts by numerous outstanding ensembles and chamber groups.  Concerts by these varied ensembles provide audiences with some of the finest contemporary and classical music being performed today.

The University Chorale
 
Best known for diverse performances, the University Chorale performs music from the Baroque period to the present.  An excitement of the creative process fuels these engaging concerts that have become a musical hallmark of the performance season.

This concert will feature John Rutter’s exuberant Gloria for brass ensemble, chorus, and percussion, and will also include other seasonal music from several cultures and traditions.

The men's Mallard Creek Chorale and the women's Charlotteans are popular performing ensembles that offer concerts including Broadway hits, folk songs and other musical styles

The UNC Charlotte Opera Workshop presents:
Les Arts Florissants
by Marc-Antoine Charpentier
January 31 – February 2, 2008; 8 pm
 
This French Baroque chamber opera opens with the characters Peace, Music, Poetry, Painting, and Architecture flourishing under the reign of Louis XIV.  When Discord disrupts the harmony of the arts, Peace appeals to Jupiter to restore order. (With English supertitles.)
